The announcement of a Congress delegation to Nandigram on Friday may seem like too little, too late for state Congressmen hoping to cash in on the Left's discomfiture, but this move too came after a serious argument reportedly broke out between External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi.

On Thursday, a day after the events in Nandigram, and a day full of adjournments caused by the Opposition, senior parliamentary party leaders of the Congress went into a huddle at Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi's office at the Parliament.

The meeting started with discussions on how Trinamool Chief Mamata Bannerjee had become a rallying point for the protests, despite the fact that the Congress too was against the killings in Nandigram.

Dasmunshi said the Congress should "do something" on the issue before Mamata Bannerjee ran away with the entire political mileage.
