The state government has approved Rs 3,482 crore detailed project report (DPR) of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). |
The report, under National Urban Renewal Mission (NURM), along with the approved DPRs of Nanded and Pimpri-Chinchwad corporations have been sent for Centre's approval. |

Of the 62 cities eligible for funding under NURM, five "" Mumbai, Nagpur, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nashik and Nanded "" are in Maharashtra. The DPRs of Mumbai and Nagpur have already been approved. |

"The Nashik civic body has chalked out Rs 3,482 core city development plan, projecting a growth in population to 37 lakh by 2031. After Centre's approval, we will get 50 per cent and 20 per cent funds from the central and the state governments, respectively, while the rest of the fund (30 per cent) will be raised by us. The DPR will be implemented in seven years," said a senior NMC official. |

NMC's DPR focuses mainly on integrated road development programme (IRDP), raising water supply, drainage upgrade, storm water management, solid waste management, slum development and acquisition of land for Sadhuygram during Simhastha Kumbhamela. |

The DPR of Nashik civic body includes Rs 1,200 crore for road and traffic, Rs 50 crore for roads under IRDP phase I, Rs 242 crore for Phase II of IRDP, Rs 220 crore for the Ring Road, Rs 330 crore for flyover on National Highway No 3 from Aurangabad Naka to Vilholi Naka via Dwarka and Mumbai Naka, Rs 644 crore for water supply, Rs 482 crore for drainage works, Rs 85 crore for acquisition of 300 acre of land for Sadhugram at Tapovan for the Simhastha Kumbhamela. |
