Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today assured that a good package will be worked out for the affected people of the Posco project, proposed to be set up near Paradip in Orissa.

He gave this assurance during a meeting with a delegation of United Action Committee (UAC), a pro-Posco outfit, in the secretariat here today. “I have assured them that peace must return to the area and law and order must be maintained. I will visit the Posco site at an appropriate time”, he told newspersons after emerging from the meeting.

This is the second meeting of Patnaik with the representative of pressure groups active in the Posco project site area in last one week. On Sunday he met the representative of Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS), an anti-Posco outfit.

During the meeting with chief minister, UAC members put forth their 29-point charter of demand mostly relating to compensation package, rehabilitation of the affected persons, job opportunities in the project, environment protection and peripheral development.
