In a press note, NCP spokesman and general secretary Surendra Futrtado said that the attitude of the under secretary of the Union Minister for Commerce stating that the SEZ could not be smacked of money talking. He said, when the people of Goa have already declared their opposition to SEZ there was no way any power on earth could say that the licenses can not be revoked.
The NCP spokesperson went on to demand a probe of the Goa industrial development corporation (GIDC) officials and ministers who were signatories and under whose tenure these SEZs were approved, so that the public is made aware of the enemies within, who have lent out their soul in a bid to make a fast buck at the cost of the people.
The Centre's back-door backing to the promoters of SEZs now an indicator of the things to come, he warned referring to the government's stand that the matter of arranging water and power to these SEZs was an eye-wash, he said.
