The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will be tapping solar energy to generate power for all its major buildings.
This follows the selection of the civic body under the Solar City Project of the union ministry of new and renewable energy, an NDMC spokesman said.
The NDMC has prepared a project report to generate roof top photo voltaic electricity on all major buildings in its area.
According to a memorandum of understanding, opportunities will be explored to develop and deploy ground mounted solar plants.
The NDMC said it was expecting to generate almost 8 MW of roof top solar energy within a year.
