Need to educate students on fuel conservation stressed

Awareness on fuel conservation is the need of the hour and must be first taken to schools and colleges, according to director general of Police A X Alexander.
 
Inaugurating the 'Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight', he said that if oil and gas resources were used at this rate, they would not last long. He added that the depletion of the resources was a matter of concern all around the world.
 
Speaking on the occasion, M Nageswaran, regional level coordinator for oil industry, southern region, said that oil conservation lies in the hands the citizens of the country.
 
In order to promote the fuel conservation among the masses, booklets and brochures were issued to the users of non renewable energy, he added.
 
The campaign aims at taking the issue to school and college students through various programmes like quiz competition and other interactive programmes.
