Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) and Tata group company Nelco Limited have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop, market and sell a range of hi-tech electronics-based systems to the Indian defence forces.
With the defence sector now being opened up for private sector participation, IAI and Nelco will together explore opportunities to meet the emerging modernisation needs of the armed forces.
Nelco offers solutions using customised systems built around standardised modules, subsystems and software.

Recently, the company supplied unattended ground sensors to the defence ministry, based on a transfer of technology from a leading US-based company.
IAI, on the other hand, covers a diversified area of hi-tech equipment for the armed forces around the world.
The $2-billion company is also a supplier to the Indian ministry of defence.
