Netxcell In Tie-Up With Oman Tel

NetXcell, a city based data and value added solutions provider has entered into a tie-up with Oman Tel to provide access to information for the cellular customers of the Omanese monopoly telecom operator. The company proposes to deliver content based services through wireless application protocol (WAP), short messaging service (SMS), interactive voice response and location based services to the customers.

"We are planning to setup a SMS gateway and start offering our services by end of November," Ramakrishna Kolipaka, Chief Executive of NetXcell told Business Standard. The services will be offered both in English and Arabic for Oman Tel's cellular customers.

The company will charge a platform price for different platforms like ticketing and banking in addition to the revenue share on the services.

NetXcell currently provides SMS based services to Airtel in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and to BPL Mobile in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa and Pondicherry. " We are pitching for few more projects in the Middle East which, if materialise will advance our break-even by an year," Ramakrishna said.

The company originally projected to break-even in the next financial year. It posted a minor loss in the last fiscal.

" Our overseas foray and the expansion plans in the domestic market will cost us about $3 to 5 million investment in the next two years.
