South Central Railway has launched a new container train circuit between Hyderabad Chennai Port from a terminal siding located on the city outskirts.
The train operates once in a week to facilitate the movement of export and import container traffic between Hyderabad and the Chennai port.
"The train service would cater to the needs of industry and market of Hyderabad and adjoining districts in Telangana and Guntur in Andhra Pradesh," the South Central Railway said.
Industrial export commodities such as bulk drugs and pharmaceuticals, engineering and electronic goods, automobile, textiles, processed food among other goods are expected to generate cargo for this service. South Central Railway General Manager Ravindra Gupta flagged-off the new service.
