The New Industrial Policy 2010-15 of Andhra Pradesh would bring out clear and specific measures to improve the investment climate in the state, according to major industries minister Kanna Lakshminaryana.
Inaugurating India Packaging, a four-day event focused on the packaging industry at the Hitex Exhibition Centre here, he said the new policy would aim at making Andhra Pradesh a strong base for the manufacturing sector, increasing industrial investments and also promote knowledge.
The effort was to increase the contribution of the industrial sector to the gross state domestic product, create additional employment opportunities and improve exports from the state. It was also focusing on rural industrialisation and promotion of small and medium enterprises.
He said the demand for packaging was the highest from the food processing and pharmaceutical sectors. Bulk Pack, which deals with industrial and transportation packaging, made its debut at the fifth edition of the event today, according to a release.
