"The objective of the new industrial policy is to encourage entrepreneurs become job providers rather than job seekers. Recalling some of the projects proposed by the previous UPA government, the minister said, the UPA government had emphasised on mak- ing industrial corridor from Bangalore to Mumbai, and now it is up to the NDA government to realise this dream.
Rao said, the government is concentrating on enhancing economic activities and utilise the human capital. Before the commencement of the Legislature Session at Belagavi, a meeting of elected representatives, district administration and industrialists would be held at Dharwad to discuss their problems and find solutions to them during the sessions.

FKCCI president S Sampathraman stated, Dharwad district had the potential for agro-based commodities, agro- based industries, engineering and food processing units industries.
There is need for additional export units to ensure these industries get a fillip.
As per government's reports, over 4,000-acre barren land is available in the Dharwad district and this can be used to create industrial estate belts, he added. He said, the DCC&I has ample opportunities to extend its multiple activities to the needy members from the different categories.
