"The new policy, which has been sent to the Centre for approval, proposes to provide Rs 5 lakhs in cash as compensation instead of providing government jobs to the kin of the victims," the sources told PTI.

"We are awaiting Centre's approval for its implementation in the state and to clear all pending cases," they added.

According to the existing policy the family of the victim gets monetary compensation of Rs One lakh and the government provides a job to the next kin.
