Andhra Pradesh would soon announce a new tourism and culture policy. The department concerned has prepared the draft and sent to various other departments for their approval. The present policy was devised in 1998 and is due for revision.
Two Shilparamams — one each at Sangareddy in Medak and at Khammam or Bhadrachalam in Khammam district would be set up.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah, who chaired a meeting on Monday, agreed to name Shilpa Sandhya Vedika (Night Bazaar) at Shilparamam in Hyderabad as YSR Shilpa Sandhya Vedika. This would be operational from March 2010 and have shopping malls and food courts that would be open till 3 am. A proposal for Parking Plaza and a budget hotel at Shilparamam was also okayed.
The government also decided to promote medical, film, convention and heli tourism by developing tourist spots and infrastructure facilities.
There was also a proposal to develop a Brindavan-type garden at Nizamsagar.
