Nhai Signs Contract With Limak-Soma

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) today signed a contract with Limak-Soma, an Indo-Turkish joint venture company based in Hyderabad for carrying out the widening and strengthening of the existing 84.5 km two-lane carriage-way from Gundugolanu near Eluru to the Gowthami bridge on the Vijayawada-Vishakapatnam section of NH-5 in Andhra Pradesh.

Part of the Chennai-Kolkata arm of the golden quadrilateral connecting the four metros of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata in the national highway development project (NHDP), the contract envisages widening of section to 4-lanes and rehabilitation of stretch between Eluru to Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh.

It also includes construction of 21 minor bridges, two medium bridges, 218 pipe and box culverts, 25 bus shelters and one new bypass at Tadepalligudem, an official release said here.

Signed for the value of Rs 244.83 crore, the project which will be financed from domestic funds, will be completed by December 2003 which is also the scheduled date of completion of the golden quadrilateral.

The Limak-Soma is a joint venture between Turkish firm Limak Construction Industry and Trade and Hyderabad-based Soma Enterprises Ltd.
