Union Home Ministry and Delhi Government have not submitted their report to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on the police action against Ramdev's supporters at the Ramlila Maidan here, prompting the rights body to issue a fresh notice to them.
Taking strong exception to the non-complaince of its notice, the NHRC sent a reminder to the Home Ministry and Delhi Chief Secretary this morning asking them to comply with its June six notice seeking their versions on the June 5 police action against supporters of Ramdev.
A "pained" Commission had on June six specifically asked the Home Ministry, Delhi Government and Delhi Police to explain the reasons for resorting to police action in the midnight.
It also asked them to explain how many people have been injured, was there any proposal to compensate them, how many people have been missing and what steps have been taken to trace them out.
While Delhi Police submitted its report within the two weeks deadline set by the Commission, sources said, the Home Ministry and Delhi government did not comply with the notice.
Sources said the Commission has now given time till August eight for both the ministry and the city government to submit their report.
The NHRC had received complaints alleging "unconstitutional" police action involving shelling of tear gas shells, lathicharge and forceful eviction of a large number of people sleeping under the pandal at Ramlila Grounds.
Ramdev had alleged that the police unleashed atrocities on his supporters, including women and children. He had also termed the police action as "biggest crime against humanity."
