NIMA Expo '06 rakes in Rs 50 cr

NIMA Index 2006, a six-day mega industrial expo, organised by Nashik Industries and Manufacturers' Association (NIMA), generated around Rs 50 crore business.
 
The expo concluded on Monday.The event attracted over 65,000 visitors in six days. The expo had 400 exhibitors.
 
88 exhibitors were from engineering/machine tools, 44 from electric and electronics, 44 from IT and office automation, 22 from rubber and plastic industries, 22 exhibitors from small industries, 12 from grape winery and 22 exhibitors from travel and finance services.
 
The expo also highlighted the potential of engineering industry as a global outsourcing destination for manufacturing of components. Around 45 large scale industries also participated in the event and interaced with the local manufacturers and trade visitors.
 
"Visitors were enthusiastic and we received around 30,000 business enquiries during the expo. Such events allow buyers and sellers to interact," said B P Chaturvedi, sales manager,Taparia Tools Ltd.
 
"We have received business enquiries worth Rs 20-25 lakh over the last six days," said a Larsen & Tubro official.
 
The event included wineries with a separate wine tasting room for the first time. Participants such as Rajdheer Winery, Prathamesh, Sigma, Sula Wines, Vinsura, Flemingo and Renaissance Wines attracted huge response.Grape wine worth Rs 3 lakh was sold and around 3,000 people tasted grape wine at the wine tasting room.
 
Some recently launched bikes were also displayed during the event. Hero Honda displayed its motorbike 'Pleasure'. "We received around 4000 enquiries and expect a business worth Rs 10 crore," said a Hero Honda official.
