NIT signs educational MoU with UK varsity

To introduce a dual degree postgraduate programme in civil engineering and exchange of students and faculty and development of research opportunities, the BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar, has signed a deal with the University of Dundee, Scotland (UK).
 
Giving details about the deal, Moin Uddin, director of NIT, said it emphasised exchanges of faculty and students, development of post-graduate programme in civil engineering in the field of structural engineering and construction management, concrete and structural engineering and environment and geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering.
 
In the MoU, the clauses for development of opportunities in research exchange of academic material and the provision of cultural and intellectual enrichment opportunity for faculty and students of both the institutions were included, he added.
 
As per the MoU signed, a dual degree postgraduate programme in concrete and structural engineering would also be introduced in NIT from the next academic session, he said.
 
"We have 18 seats, including eight government-sponsored seats for the programme. The eligible student will undergo first year of studies at NIT here, while the final year studies will be competed at the University of Dundee, which will offer 50 per cent of the tution fee," he said.
