No decision has yet been taken on the allocation of the lone Rajya Sabha seat here, which has fallen vacant after AICC general secretary V Narayanaswamy was elected to the Lok Sabha in the May 13 polls, the Puducherry Pradesh Congress committee said here today.
Narayanasamy has been a Rajya Sabha member from 2003. His term comes to a close in a few months, which will necessitate election of a new incumbent to the lone seat.
A PCC spokesperson told PTI on the sidelines of a function that the ruling Congress would take a collective decision on who would be fielded for the poll.
Asked if the Democratic Progressive Alliance, in which DMK is a major partner, would also be consulted, he said this too would be done.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister V Vaithilingam told PTI on his return from Delhi that he and other members of the Congress delegation met Congress president Sonia Gandhi a few days ago and invited her here to address a victory meeting here.
Narayanasamy, who wrested the lone Lok Sabha seat from PMK at the May 13 poll here, was also part of the delegation which met Sonia Gandhi.
