CPI today indicated that it would not mind Congress supporting a Third Front government but ruled out extending support to a Congress-led government in the post-poll scenario.
"Why should we refuse if somebody wants to support us but it is absolutely clear that we will not support Congress" government in the post-poll scenario, CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan told reporters here.
His comment came when asked what will his party's stand be if Congress wants to support a Third Front government from outside.
"I stand by this manifesto and policies. If Congress has no problems in supporting these policies, let them support then," he said releasing the party manifesto.
In its manifesto, the party promised that it will work for providing a non-Congress and non-BJP alternative at the Centre that would carry forward the "glorious" tradition of anti-imperialism and secular polity.
The party's aim is to "halt the ruling classes from pursuing a disastrous course" like the neo-liberal policies of the Congress and BJP's "communal agenda", the manifesto said.
"CPI and the Left is joining the electoral battle with the slogan of providing a non-Congress and non-BJP alternative that should carry forward the glorious tradition of anti-imperialism, secular polity and independent economic policies and social justice to all," the manifesto said.
