Even as speculation is rife on the setting up of a nuclear power plant in Orissa, the state government has categorically stated that there is no such proposal for the state.
“We have not received any proposal either from the Centre or from any company for setting up of a nuclear power plant”, P K Jena, the state's energy secretary said here.Speculation was rife on setting up of a nuclear power plant near Gopalpur in south Orissa's Ganjam district after the two Central public sector undertakings- National Aluminium Company (Nalco) and Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last year.
