In an effort to promote multiplexes in Himachal Pradesh, the state government has decided to exempt them from entertainment tax for five years. The decision came over the weekend. The multiplexes operating under commercial operation after May 2007 up to May 2012 are exempted in accordance with the provisions of the industrial policy 2004.
To the surprise of many tourists, there are virtually no multiplexes across the state.
