Notification for new industrial estate soon

K'taka to develop new industrial township at Dobspet

The Karnataka government will issue a notification in two days for the acquisition of 1,000 acres of land to develop a new industrial estate at Ganapathihalli on the outskirts of Bangalore.

The industries and commerce department recently approved the creation of the industrial estate which will be developed in two phases on 2,500 acres.

Azeezullah Baig, managing director, Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation (KSSIDC), said, "The draft notification is ready and will be issued in a day or two by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board."

The government has identified 50,000 acres in and around Bangalore to develop more industrial estates to cater to the growing needs of industries for expansion, he told members of the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (Kassia) at an interaction meeting, here on Monday.

Two industrial estates are being developed at Solur and Dobspet. The estate at Solur is likely to be delayed following an objection raised by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).

"We have received information from the KIADB that the land at Solur is not suitable for setting up industrial units. So, we have decided to undertake a joint inspection with them along with Kassia members and identify the problems. In order to meet the demands of the industries for more land we plan to develop a new industrial estate at Dobspet, about 50 km from the Bangalore international Airport," Baig said.

Baig said that the KSSIDC had identified 5,000 acres of land at Dobspet as an alternative site to Solur.

"If the joint study finds the land at Solur unsuitable for setting up industries, then we will develop a new township at Dobspet," he said.

It has been planned to set up industrial townships over 1,600 acres at Solur and 200 acres at Doddaballapur.

Kassia had demanded allotment of 3,000 acres at Ganapathihalli, 4,000 acres at Solur and 700 acres at Doddaballapur.
