Prakash Karat, general secretary, CPI-M has asked the government not to approach the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as a follow up on the Indo-US nuclear deal till the UPA-Left committee comes out with its findings.He also warned that if the government does so, allies would take steps to stall it. "The government was planning to approach IAEA in September. Usually, September is the time when IAEA conducts most of its business. The CPI-M's firm stand is that the government should not approach IAEA before the Hyde Act panel brings out its report."If the government takes any follow-up action on the deal, all steps to stall it would be taken," Karat said.Top sources familiar with the negotiations said talks with IAEA must continue in September if India wants to conclude the Indo-US nuclear agreement to catch the US Congress before it goes into election cycle.
