According to the latest telecom subscriber figures released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), the number of fixed-line subscriber came down marginally to 39.41 million in October, from 39.58 million in September. |
In October, the number of wireless and wireline users was 256.55 million, with 217.14 million mobile users, Trai said. |
Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and other mobile-phone operators in the world's fastest-growing major wireless market jointly added 8.05 million subscribers. |
The number of broadband subscribers also increased marginally to 2.69 million against 2.67 million at the end of September 2007. |
