Days after US military killed Osama Bin Laden, President Barack Obama will travel here to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 terror attacks.

Last year, the anniversary was attended by Vice President Joe Biden.

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg yesterday told journalists about Obama's intended visit in September.

"You know, it's a very emotional moment in the country now," Bloomberg said.

Obama will mark the tenth anniversary at the formal opening of the national memorial to the nearly 3,000 people who died in the terrorist attacks.

"I think it's perfectly appropriate for him to come."

The White House has not yet confirmed the plan.

Obama will also travel to New York tomorrow to meet 9/11 families.

The visit comes a few days after US forces killed Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan.

On Sunday night, Obama said that that "justice had been done."

After initial celebrations, the US is now debating the impact of Bin Laden's death as well as the role of Pakistan in curbing terrorism.

The US remains on high security alert.

There was an increase in a number of cops patrolling areas like Times Square, Grand Central and the World Trade Centre site.

Bloomberg said that no terror threat had been sounded since Bin Laden's death.
