Eleven roads close to the Taj Mahal hotel will remain closed from tomorrow till Sunday evening for security reasons in the wake of the two-day visit of US president Barack Obama, police said today.

Vehicle passes have been issued to car owners living in the residential buildings close to Taj area. Over 500 passes have been issued so far, police said.

Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Rajnish Seth said roads to be used for the President's convoy, would not be available for regular vehicular movements till the time the entourage passes off.

"Bursting of crackers near Taj Hotel and Gateway of India will not be allowed. For two days, nobody would be allowed to go to Gateway of India during Obama's visit," Seth said.

Except for shops in the close vicinity of Taj, other shops would be allowed to remain open, he added.
