Odisha panel for Digital India plan

The Odisha government has constituted two panels, state committee and state apex committee, for smooth and effective implementation of the Digital India programme.

The eight member state committee will function under the chairmanship of the chief minister for providing overall vision, broad policy direction and guidance for implementation of the new initiative at the state level. Apart from the chief minister, ministers of five departments namely, finance, information technology, revenue and disaster management, housing and urban development and information & public relations are the members of the state committee. While chief secretary is a member of the team, IT secretary is the member convener.

Similarly, the chief secretary will head the state apex committee. This committee has 17 members with IT secretary as the member convener. Among others, development commissioner, secretaries of ten departments, director general of National Informatics Centre (NIC) are the members of the team.

"The state apex committee on Digital India programme is constituted to provide strategy for implementation, allocate required resources, set priority amongst projects and resolve interdepartmental issues for smooth and timely implementation of programme in the state", said an IT department notification.

The vision of 'Digital India' is centred on three key areas namely, digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen, governance and services on demand and digital empowerment of citizens.
