The Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is making all-out efforts to control the abnormal behavior of exploratory well No.SK#108 in South Kadi area near Aldasan village, about 6 km from Kadi Tol Naka.
The uncontrolled flow of oil and gas, which started on December 8, is still continuing, but the intensity of the flow appears to have reduced to some extent, said in ONGC release.
The release added that R C Gourh, director (onshore), and N Lal, director (T&FS), have reached the site for assessing the situation. Crisis management teams of ONGC and foreign experts have already reached the site.
S K Sood, asset manager, Ahmedabad, informed from the site that a two pronged action plan has already been chalked out to control the flow of oil and gas and channelise the storage of well fluid and avoid pollution. He added that, as the well is situated in un-inhabited area, there is little environmental risk to local residents. He said ONGC is getting full cooperation of local residents and state authorities.
