Expressing grief over the death and destruction caused by the cloudburst in Leh, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today appealed to his cabinet colleagues to donate one month's salary for rehabilitation of the victims.

The appeal for contribution to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund was made here by Abdullah at a cabinet meeting chaired by him, an official spokesman said.

The spokesman said legislators and government employees would also be requested to donate their one week's and one day's salary, respectively, to augment the resources for relief and rehabilitation.

The cabinet also expressed concern over damage caused by flash floods in several other parts of the state including Kargil.

Meanwhile, the cabinet announced transfer and positing of 29 Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officers, filling the vacant posts of 15 additional deputy commissioners.

In a separate order, Additional district development commissioner (Jammu) Satish Chander Sawhney was today transferred as Municipal Commissioner, Jammu, relieving Deputy Commissioner Jammu of additional charge.
