In an effort to bring down the under recovery, oil marketing companies have approached the government for a hike in delivery charges for packed LPG transportation by Rs 5-16 per cylinder in plains and hilly areas, which is likely to be passed on to the customers.

State-run companies like Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) have also asked for a revision on LPG delivery charges on a quarterly basis. Under-recoveries for OMCs on account of this, which are not being compensated by the government, accounted to  around Rs 529 crore in 2012-13, which is expected to be Rs 600 crore this fiscal.
