More than 5,000 workers of ONGC in the western region including, Ahmedabad, Mehsana, Ankleswar, the Gulf of Cambay, Vadodara and Jodhpur in Rajasthan took part in various protests throughout the day.
The workers affiliated to various trade unions were protesting against the alleged injustice in profit sharing as the employees at the executive level, they said, get more share of the profit as compared to the workers.
The job-linked test results were very poor this year in the western region, which is considered for promotion from worker to the executive level, they said.
The workers also demanded that those who were employed on a four-year term on a contract basis be made permanent at the end of the contract term.
R H Pathan, general secretary, ONGC Mazdoor Sangh, said,
