Vishwa Hindu Parishad today said a "strong government" was needed at the Centre to solve the Sri Lankan Tamils issue. The present situation demands very strong government at the Centre which can solve the ethnic problem and also have very good relationship with its neighbouring countries, VHP International President Ashok Singhal told reporters here.
He also criticised the Centre for its "wrong policies" on the Tamils issue. Hitting out at some political parties in Tamil Nadu for demanding a separate Eelam, Singhal said "it is not necessary for creating a separate land for Tamils in Sri Lanka.
The need of the hour is to rehabilitate the affected ones".
On Sethusamudhram Project, he said Centre should abide by the recent Supreme Court suggestion asking it to examine if the project could be implemented through an alternative route.
