Opposition parties today demanded a special session of Parliament to discuss problems before the agriculture sector before the Centre launched a second Green Revolution.

"Before you launch a second Green Revolution in the country, please convene a 10 or 15-day special session of Parliament to debate the crisis plaguing agriculture and farmers," Rajnath Singh said in the Lok Sabha initiating the debate on Demands for Grants for Agriculture and  Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ministries.

Singh said his party, along with other Opposition parties, will support every move of the government in improving the lives of the farmers.

The BJP leader said he would not move any cut motions to the Agriculture Ministry's Demands for Grants as the sector was already reeling under liquidity crunch.

"The government makes tall claims of tranforming agriculture, but the situation in the sector has gone from bad to worse," he said.

Singh also expressed surprise over government "failing to announce any stimulus package" for agriculture while providing relief to other sectors.
