A united opposition is set to embarass the government in the Rajya Sabha tomorrow by seeking the removal of Telecom Minister A Raja in the wake of the multi-crore 2G spectrum allocation controversy.
All opposition parties have given notices for a motion on the issue of corruption including the removal of Raja, whose DMK party is a key constituent of Congress-led UPA at the Centre.
"We all have given such notices," Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, noting that non-UPA parties have a majority in the Upper House.
Both Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha plunged into turmoil today over the issue of corruption with an agitated opposition raising various scams including those relating to the Commonwealth Games and the Adarsh Housing Society.
They wanted a Joint Parliamentary Committee to go into all these issues.
Ahead of the assembly polls in Tamil Nadu early next year, opposition AIADMK is making the spectrum controversy a big issue.
AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa has appealed to people to send telegrams to President Pratibha Patil demanding Raja's immediate removal from the government.
"Raja has presided over what is easily the mother of all scams the 2G spectrum", she alleged.
