Orissa aims 92.77 lakh tonne foodgrains

Agricultural foodgrains production in Orissa in the kharif as well as rabi seasons of 2010-11 has been projected at 92.77 lakh tonnes. This marks a 6.84 per cent growth over the production of 86.83 lakh tonnes in the agriculture season of the previous fiscal.

“The agriculture production in the state has been projected at 92.77 lakh tonnes for the current financial year. This includes 74.64 lakh tonnes in the kharif season and 18.13 lakh tonnes in the rabi season”, state agriculture minister Damodar Rout said.

Rout said, the state has targeted crop loan disbursal of Rs 1600 crore through the cooperative sector in 2010-11.

In 2009-10, the state government had fallen short of its foodgrains production target by 22.09 lakh tonnes.
