Orissa may have attracted massive investments to the tune of over Rs six lakh crore across sectors, making it one of the most enviable investment destinations in the country, but the state is not content to sit on its laurels.
The state government is now making efforts to showcase Orissa as an investor friendly destination in USA to woo investors.
A high-level trade delegation of the state government led by S N Patro, the state minister for revenue and disaster management and Debi Prasad Mishra, minister for tourism, culture and higher education will attend two major events in USA.
The ministers will also be accompanied by the state industries secretary Saurabh Garg, industry associations and veteran industry leaders from the state.
“The trade delegation from Orissa will participate in two major events in USA- the Washington State India Trade Relations Action Committee (WASITRAC)-2010 to be held at Seattle from June 27-29 and the Invest Bhubaneswar Symposium to be held in California on July 1.
Both these events will highlight the investment opportunities in Orissa in various sectors and the objective is to attract the prospective investors from there”, said Garg.

During the inaugural session of WASITRAC-2010, the trade delegation from Orissa will meet US state leaders including US Congressmen and Senators.
On June 28, the second day of the conference, the delegation will meet the officials of the Port of Seattle and the Seattle Convention Bureau and the talks will focus on areas like ports, cruise terminals and on the prospects of developing Orissa as a convention destination.
Besides, the delegation will also call on the authorities of the University of Washington and discuss on establishing a possible link between the famed university and the educational institutions of Orissa.On the concluding day of the conference (June 29), the trade delegation will meet the officials of the Washington State Department of Commerce to explore new areas of business cooperation.Besides, the delegation will meet the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and Seattle Chamber of Commerce and also visit the facilities of Microsoft Corporation and Boeing.A select trade delegation of USA will also visit Orissa between November 14-23 this year.
During the Invest Bhubaneswar Symposium which will be held on July 1, the Orissa government will give a presentation on investment opportunities in Orissa in the fields of infrastructure, higher education, tourism and information technology.
