To ensure transparency, the Orissa government has made mining data public by displaying all relevant information on the website. Raghunath Mohanty, minister for steel & mines on Tuesday launched critical mining data online for public information.

The data displayed on the public domain, is being done under the Integrated Mines & Mineral Management System to streamline the complex mining and allied activities of the state.

This programme was initiated on May 25 to bring in systematic reforms and re-engineer the prevailing procedure to ensure strict adherence to all the mining statutes and rules. There are 597 mining leases and 3013 licensees in the state which have been given unique codes.
