Absconding chairman of the Osmanabad District Central Co-operative Bank (ODCCB), Pawanraje Nimbalkar, was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Bhavdar private hospital in Bandgardens in Pune.
The Pune city control, when contacted, denied that Nimbalkar, who was declared an absconder in the Rs 233 crore gilt scam, had been arrested.
The official on duty said: "We received a message that Nimbalkar along with a huge group of his supporters from Osmanabad had come to the private hospital at 3 pm today. We immediately ordered a police bandobast in the area that comes under the jurisdiction of the Bandgarden police station to prevent any untoward incidents. Nimbalkar has been admitted to the ICU and we have not formally arrested him yet."
