Power supply in Andhra Pradesh has been affected on account of a sudden outage of some units since Tuesday, resulting in a loss of 1,420 Mega watt. Normalcy is expected to be restored in a couple of days.
According to an APTransco release, a 500 mw unit in Kakatiya thermal power project and a 280-Mw unit in Konaseema gas power project stopped generation on Wednesday. This is in addition to a loss of 480 Mw in other thermal and gas power projects in the last few days. While the inter-state purchase has come down by 160 Mw due to the outage of Jindal merchant power plant in Karnataka, the share of power from central generating stations has also been reduced by 125 Mw.
The total loss in availability of power is put at 36.5 million units. On the other hand, the demand touched 254 million units on Tuesday, the power utility stated in the release.
