After showing signs of revival in October this year, readymade garment exports, the largest item in India's export basket, fell 15.71 per cent to $ 274.8 million in November this year compared to $ 326 million in the corresponding period last year.
According to the provisional data released by the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), garment exports to quota countries during November showed a decrease of 9.19 per cent in terms of quantity to 82 million pieces from 90.3 million pieces last year.
Garment exports last month had shown a slight recovery registering an 11 per cent increase in value terms to $ 253.9 million compared to $ 228.8 million a year ago.

Exports during April-November this year increased by a marginal 1.65 per cent in terms of quantity to 635 million pieces, but posted a decline of 7.40 per cent in terms of value to $2.31 billion over the same period last year.
During November 2001, exports to the US rose 10.86 per cent in terms of quantity to 23 million pieces but registered a decline of 15.50 per cent in value terms to $ 116.6 million as against $ 136 million in November 2000.
Exports to the European Union during November showed a decrease of 15.50 per cent in terms of quantity and 15.34 per cent in terms of value while exports to Canada decreased by 14.29 per cent in quantity terms and 20.67 per cent in terms of value.
Readymade garment exports to the EU during April-November amounted to 400.5 million pieces valued at $ 1.05 billion, representing an increase of 1.19 per cent in terms of quantity but a decrease of 3.89 per cent in terms of value.
During January-November, readymade garment exports to the restricted countries registered a decline of 1.93 per cent in terms of quantity to 954.2 million pieces.
Exports to the US during January-November, 2001 amounted to 276.1 million pieces valued at $ 1.67 billion, which was 2.2 per cent lower in terms of quantity and 11.26 per cent lower in terms of value.
For the EU, compared to the previous year, exports to Portugal, Ireland and Greece have shown an increase while other countries have registered a decline.
