The Federation of Indian Export Organisations today asked Pakistan to lift the ban on import of raw sugar from India and sought the most favoured nation-treatment on all imports.

Welcoming Pakistan's decision to import meat, garlic, tomato, potato and onion through the Wagah border, FIEO President O P Garg said this would open new vistas of opportunity for economic cooperation between the two nations.

Garg said sugar was available at most competitive prices in India and could fulfill Pakistan's demand of about 5 lakh tones this financial year.

Praising Pakistan's decision to upgrade international trade facilities at the Wagah border, he added that import of Indian goods will help Pakistan check inflation which has reached double figure.
