Paradeep Phosphates Limited lines up Rs 500-cr expansion plan

Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) has lined up an expansion plan of Rs 500 crore for the next three years in setting up an all-new sulphuric acid plant, de-bottlenecking of its existing phosphoric acid plant, setting up a gypsum pond and a 20 MW captive power plant (CPP) at its project site at Paradeep.

Addressing mediapersons here, S S Nandurdikar, managing director, PPL said, “PPL would invest Rs 500 crore over the next three years. The investment plan has been cleared by the board of directors..”

He said, while Rs 250 crore will be invested on the new sulphuric acid plant with a proposed capacity of 2000 tonnes per day, Rs 70 crore will be spent on de-bottlenecking of its existing phosphoric acid plant.

Similarly, PPL will set up a gypsum pond at a cost of Rs 100 crore while the balance investment will go in establishing a CPP.

PPL which has already launched pesticides three months back, is planning to launch micro-nutrients soon.

It is also keen on adding ammonia and urea to its product portfolio.

The company recorded a total income of Rs 3151.14 crore with a net profit of Rs 151.55 crore for 2009-10. Its overall production in the previous fiscal stood at 1.21 million tonnes which includes 0.76 million tonne of DAP fertilizers (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) and 0.44 million tonne of complex fertilizers.

Among the intermediary products, sulphuric acid and phosphoric acid production stood at 0.63 million tonne and 0.22 million tonne respectively. PPL also sold 0.11 million tonne of imported muriate of potash and 0.11 million tonne of imported DAP.
