Parks, circles, roads in Mysore will get facelift for Dasara

The Mysore City Corpora- tion will improve 14 parks on the Bangalore-Mysore highway

Come Dasara, and visitors to Mysore will see a gree-ner city. The Mysore City Corporation (MCC) has dec-ided to give a facelift to the major parks and circles, besides improving the conditions of some of the important roads.

It has decided to plant short-duration decoration plants and improve the look of 14 of the parks on the Bangalore-Mysore highway, Bannimantap, Taluk Office, Meelad Bagh, Tilak Nagar, Puthali, Thathayya, Eastern and Western Palace wings, JSS Mutt, Dr Rajkumar, Kuppanna, Gandhivan, Cheluvamba, Javare Gowda, Anathaswamy, MCC Main Building and other parks in the city.

It will give a green touch to major circles by arran-ging horticultural decorat-ion plants at the K R Circle, J C Circle, LIC Circle, Chamaraja, Hardinge, Ayurvedic, Ramaswamy, Five Lights, Basaveswara, Dr Ambedkar, Mahaveera, Mahatma Gandhi, Fountain and other important circles.

It will improve the condition of 14 of the Bangalore-Mysore highway parks, Bannimantap, Taluk Office Road, Meelad Bagh, Tilak Nagar, Puthali, Curzon Park Section 3, 1st Stage, Bannimantap, Siddiqui Nagar, Kuppanna, Siddappaji, Veeranagere, Adjacent to Central Food Research Institute, Rose Garden and other parks by renovating them with new grills and a fresh coat of paint, besides carrying out repairs wherever needed.

Similar works have alre-ady been taken up at some of these parks. Besides planting decorative plants, some of these parks will be provi-ded permanent and temporary decorative lights to give them a better look.

Besides this face-lift of parks and circles, the Mysore City Corporation has taken up tarring and other improvement works of some major roads in the city.

They include the Purandaradasa Road, Road linking the palace, road from Hardinge Circle to Kote Maramma Temple, Albert Victor Road from Chamaraja Statue Circle to Krishnarajendra Circle thorugh which the Dasara procession passes, reasphalting of the Irwin Road from Ayurvedic College Circle, said MCC commissioner Ramesh today in a release.
