The Parliament today was adjourned for the whole day amid pandemonium over demand for a separate Telangana state.

Earlier, it was adjourned till 2 pm as the Opposition vociferously raised the issue of allegation of Army chief that he was offered bribe and some Congress members raked up the demand for separate Telangana.

As soon as Speaker Meira Kumar read out obituary references in the Lok Sabha, Congress members from Telangana and those from TRS and TDP rushed to the Well to press for statehood.

Congress members displaying black ribbons on their shirts waved copies of newspapers carrying reports of suicide by a youth over Telangana issue. TRS members were seen showing posters demanding a bill on separate Telangana.

Members from JD-U also rushed to the Well raising the issue of coal linkage for a power house in Bihar.

BJP members raised the issue of Army chief's allegation from their seats. They were heard supporting the Telangana issue and slamming activist Arvind Kejrewal for his reported remarks against parliamentarians.

Amid uproar, the Speaker adjourned the House till noon.

Soon after Rajya Sabha met for the day, Prakash Javadekar (BJP) said he has given a notice for suspension of Question Hour to discuss the Army chief's issue.

"This is Question Hour. Only questions will be taken up," Chairman Hamid Ansari said.

BJP, AIADMK and JD-U members were up on their feet raising slogans and displaying copies of the newspaper that carried the Army Chief's interview.

Shivanand Tiwari (JD-U) said, "The Army Chief should be asked if he was offered bribe, why did he not call police."

As Ansari's repeated pleas to members to restore order went unheeded, he adjourned the House till noon.

Defence Minister AK Antony has ordered a CBI probe into the allegation of bribe levelled by General VK Singh. Antony said that the allegation of the Army chief that he was offered bribe is "serious". "We have to handle it," he said.
