With voting for the first phase elections slated to start tomorrow, the Telugu Desam-BJP combine and the opposition Congress-TRS-Left alliance have now gotten down to predicting various post-poll outcomes.

According to sources, the TDP leadership has worked out the best and the worst possible scenarios basing on the vote swing.

According to the TDP's own assessment, it will get a maximum of 180 seats in the Assembly elections if a three per cent voter swing happens in favour of the party. It will get only 103 seats if the same three per cent vote swings in favour of the Congress-TRS-Left alliance.

Coming to the Congress party, the state leadership has been predicting that the total tally will cross the 200 mark if the mood of the voter translates into votes. The leadership is expecting around 170 seats in the worst possible scenario.

Interestingly both the best and worst case scenarios worked out by the Congress party are being seen as ensuring that the party will be back in power in the state.

This is in stark comparison to the TDP's worst case scenario that puts it well below the half way mark of 294 seats in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

Though the TRS supremo, K Chandrasekhar Rao, has been maintaining that the TDP will get a single digit number of seats in Telangana, the other allies in the opposition are somewhat sceptical about the outcome.

As per their predictions, the Congress-TRS-Left alliance will get 70 out of the 107 seats in Telangana with the TDP getting the rest of the seats.

"If the seat adjustment between the Congress-TRS were on the desired lines and the rebel problem was sorted out fully, the opposition would have got at least 185 seats. In the given situation, we may get between 165 to 175 seats," a senior CPI(M) leader observed.
