The Rajkot city in Saurashtra received the highest rainfall with sharp showers lashing most parts of the city. |
According to official sources, Rajkot received about seven mm of rainfall in just about half an hour. Several hoardings came crashing to the ground, damaging parked vehicles and a few trees too were uprooted, causing roadblocks and disruption of traffic. |

Met department officials said that the cloudy conditions have been developing during the late afternoon and evening, and this is being caused because of the heating of the earth's surface. |
"Many times, over heating causing swirlig winds, which develop into a thunderstorm like situation, but this is purely a local phenomenon," said an official of the department. |
Officials said the day temperatures are likely to hover around the 40 degrees Celsius mark, but evenings are likely to be much cooler and pleasant. |
