Patang's kite flying event to enter Limca Book of World Records

Ahmedabad's Kite Festival is now all set to make inroads into the Limca Book of World Records as leading realty and hospitality player of the city Dharmadev Infrastructure, the owner of the Neelkanth group of hotels, plans to fly a giant sized kite called 'Tukkal' with as many as 1000 electronic lights attached on the same string on January 14. The event will be held at the premises of Patang Hotel's, owned by Neelkanth group.

The kite will be flown by a group of 13 people including Umang Thakkar, the owner of the group. The huge kite, measuring seven feet by 10 feet has been made from a special kind of synthetic cloth.The organizers of the event have applied for registration in the Limca Book of World Records,Record Holders Republic New Delhi-Indian Book of World Records and in the World Amazing Records. The USA based Guinness World Record authorities have also been informed about the event.

About 25 blind and disabled children of the Blindmen Association of Ahmedabad will also be present on this occasion. Paavan Solanki an international kite flyer and secretary of Ahmedabad Kite Flyers’ Association has also extended his support for this project. "We have adopted around 10 children and will fund their education for a year.", Thakkar said.

More than 120 kite flyers from 34 different countries and 105 kite-flyers from various states of the country are participating in the festival across the city.
