Congratulating the JD(U)-BJP alliance for its good showing in Bihar elections, Union Home Minister P C Chidambaram today said the development argument has prevailed in the state.
"If development argument has prevailed in Bihar, we should all be happy. We congratulate Nitish Kumar as well as the two parties - the JD(U) and BJP - for their extremely good showing," Chidambaram told reporters outside Parliament.
The JD(U)-BJP combine is leading in 189 seats out of 243 in Bihar assembly elections. Congress is leading in seven seats only. The RJD-LJP has also fared badly as the Lalu-Paswan combine has been able to maintain lead in 32 seats.
Wishing all the best to the ruling combine, Chidambaram said, "We wish them the best in running progressive and forward looking government(in Bihar)."
However, he did not comment on the poor showing of the Congress in Bihar.
