PDP-led coalition regime has laid a foundation of mutual trust and confidence among residents of different regions and sub-regions in the state, Sayeed said at a function.
"Our government treated all regions equally but backward and ignored regions were given special focus," the PDP patron said and challenged his opponents to come out with any evidence of discrimination against any region.
Cautioning people against a campaign launched by "vested interests" against the party, Sayeed pointed that issues taken up the PDP were supported by successive Central governments.
"Previous NDA regime headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and present UPA government led by Manmohan Singh wholeheartedly supported initiatives taken by us for restoring peace in this region," he said.
"Whatever steps we initiated for restoring peace, successive regimes in Delhi endorsed our stand", he said and reiterated PDP's commitment to work as facilitator for solution of the Kashmir issue with honour and dignity. The former chief minister said that time would not be far when the Sialkot-Suchetgarh road would be opened to trade to facilitate economic growth of the people living on both sides.
