State-owned trading firm PEC has invited bids for the import of 6,000 tonne of pulses for sale in the domestic market.
The last date for submission of bids is June 22, and a decision on awarding the contract will be taken on the same day, a notice on the company's website said.
The company said while 2,000 tonne of green lentils of the crop year 2010 are to be sourced from both the USA and Canada, another 2,000 tonne of lemon tur of the crop year 2011 is to be sourced from Myanmar.
The consignments are to be delivered at the Chennai port between July-August, it added.
PEC, MMTC and other state-run trading agencies like the STC import different varieties of pulses on behalf of the government to augment domestic supply.
